Plan a Beautiful Cayman Wedding
Non-Residents have to provide the following in order to apply for a marriage
license in the Cayman Islands:
- Proof of identity,
such as an original or certified birth certificate or passport (your
travel documents)
- Cayman Islands international embarkation/disembarkation card (you
will receive on the plane
- Certified or original copies of divorce decrees/death certificates
(if applicable)
A
marriage can be performed as soon as the application has been processed
– and it is possible to do this all on the same day. The application,
which must be signed by both people, must give full names, occupations,
and permanent address and any current temporary address. It must also
give the name of the marriage officer who will perform the ceremony, state
of either party has been previously married, and confirm that there is
no impediment of kindred, or alliance or other lawful hindrance to the
intended marriage.
The minimum age of legal marriage in the Cayman Islands is 16, however,
anyone under 18 must have consent if he or she has not been married before.
All marriages must be attended by a local marriage officer and by two
other witnesses. Marriages must take place between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Note
that liquor licensing laws state that live music must not be played on
Sunday in places licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
